SOON Foundation is building infrastructure to support contemporary art and cultural exchange between Alaska and the rest of the world.
A place for enhancing artistry rooted in the myth and reality of Alaska’s unique nature, while exploring humanity’s shifting relationship to the primitive and the contemporary. We are building a place—quietly and deliberately—for artists and communities to engage with land, time, and each other. Our mission is to foster the exploration of our ever-shifting relationship to the primitive and the contemporary by supporting the conception, production, and presentation of art that contemplates complex ageless questions asked by humanity. In an era defined by speed and disconnection, SOON reimagines what it means to gather around ideas, around art, and around the fire. We see Alaska not as a backdrop, but as a lens: a place where the conditions of making are redefined. Where the personal and the collective, dialog through contribution with the physical world. A small group of us work with the hopes of connecting to various organizations that will help amplify the visions of congruent artists in order to enrich the value of aspiration, curation, and potential from within Alaska.
